The Supreme Court on Monday dismissed special leave petitions filed by investor Persis A. Khambatta, refusing to interfere with the Calcutta High Court's judgment upholding a resolution of Industrial Investment Bank of India Ltd (IIBI). The resolution provides for redemption of ₹221.08 crore worth of redeemable cumulative preference shares at 20% of their principal amount. The Supreme Court's decision has upheld the Calcutta High Court's order.
Supreme Court to Hear Suresh Gopi's Plea Against Kerala HC Order
The Supreme Court has agreed to hear a plea by Union minister of state Suresh Gopi challenging a Kerala High Court order. The High Court refused to dismiss a petition questioning his 2024 Lok Sabha election win. Binoy AS, a youth federation leader, alleged corrupt practices by Gopi during his campaign. These allegations included misuse of religious symbols and promises of gifts. Gopi's plea argued the election petition was not maintainable. The Supreme Court will hear the case and decide on the maintainability of the petition.

The Supreme Court has reserved its order on Abu Salem's plea seeking release from custody. The court heard arguments from both sides and has now reserved its order.
