The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has taken suo motu cognisance of allegations of excessive use of force by the Delhi Police against student protesters during the July 20 protest at Delhi's Jantar Mantar. The NHRC issued a notice to the Commissioner of Police of Delhi seeking his response. The NHRC took cognisance of the matter based on a news report published in a local newspaper. The NHRC has asked the Commissioner of Police to submit a report on the incident within two weeks. A 25-year-old protester who was injured during the Cockroach Janta Party's march to the Parliament on July 20 has alleged that he was shot by a RAF man and hit by multiple pellets.
