Supreme Court Agrees to Hear Plea for Interpretation of Anti-Defection Law

The Supreme Court has agreed to hear a plea for the interpretation of the anti-defection law, which aims to curb illegal defections through the route of political party merger. A bench of Justices P S Narasimha and Alok Aradhe observed that there are enormous issues with the working of the 10th Schedule and agreed to examine the matter after a senior advocate's plea.
