Devshayani Ekadashi 2026: Lord Vishnu to Enter Yoga Nidra from July 25

Devshayani Ekadashi, a significant Hindu festival, marks the beginning of the four-month-long Chaturmas period. According to Hindu mythology, Lord Vishnu will enter a state of yoga nidra, a deep sleep, for 119 days, starting from July 25. This period is considered sacred and is marked by the prohibition of all auspicious functions, including weddings and other ceremonies. The Chaturmas period will come to an end on November 20, when Lord Vishnu will emerge from his sleep and the festival of Dev Uthani will be celebrated. The festival is observed on the 11th day of the bright half of the Ashadha month, and is also known as Harishayani Ekadashi, Padma Ekadashi, or Ashadi Ekadashi.
