Google resolves cloud outage affecting UK banks and websites

Updated 2 min read

Google Cloud says it has resolved a disruption at its London data centre region that knocked major UK services offline on Tuesday. The company blamed a power event at a third-party facility inside its europe-west2 cloud region. Revolut, Lloyds Bank and HSBC all confirmed customer-facing problems, while Royal Mail, DPD and the HM Courts and Tribunals Service also reported disruption to websites and remote hearing video. One small fresh-produce business said it could not download orders, book parcel collections or take new sales during the outage, leaving perishable stock at risk of delay and lost revenue. Google apologised to affected users and said services have been restored. The company added that a full incident analysis will be published on its cloud service health dashboard.
