Tech stocks fall as Nvidia boss warns of AI funding slowdown

Nvidia chief Jensen Huang warned that a scarcity of working capital is now slowing the rollout of artificial intelligence, telling CNBC that demand for capital is far greater than its availability. The Nasdaq 100 slid three percent on Thursday, erasing roughly one point two trillion dollars in value, while the S&P 500 fell one point five percent. Meta shares dropped as much as seven percent after the company said it must raise hundreds of billions of dollars for AI spending and disclosed around eight hundred twenty-five billion dollars in future lease and agreement commitments. Tesla also cut its proposed AI spending from twenty-five billion to twenty billion dollars. Surging oil prices added to the pressure, with Brent crude climbing above one hundred twelve dollars per barrel for the first time since May. For everyday investors, the sell-off means retirement accounts and index funds tied to major tech names lost ground in a single session, though OpenAI is still closing in on funding that would value it above one trillion dollars.
