The World's Smartest Hospitals, Plus Epic's Next Agentic AI Move - Newsweek
Newsweek and Statista have released their World's Best Smart Hospitals ranking, recognizing 410 hospitals globally for advanced technology use. Mayo Clinic claimed the top spot, followed by Cleveland Clinic and Mount Sinai Hospital. The survey found hospitals made steady progress on infrastructure and governance, but artificial intelligence adoption shows a wide gap between leading institutions and their peers, with the Americas and Asia-Pacific regions making the biggest gains. Separately, Epic announced Connectors, a new tool letting third-party applications communicate with its AI systems, with first use cases expected early next year. For patients, the technology could mean smarter medication delivery and fewer delays, as pharmacy logistics data gets linked directly into hospital software. Statista and ARC Global also plan to launch a global smart hospital database in 2027 to help institutions benchmark their digital progress.
