US EB-5 visa investment threshold to rise in 2027: How it will affect Indians

The minimum investment for a United States EB-5 investor visa is scheduled to rise on January 1, 2027, under an inflation adjustment written into the 2022 EB-5 Reform and Integrity Act. The threshold for targeted employment areas and infrastructure projects is projected to climb from 800,000 dollars to between 900,000 and 937,500 dollars. Standard investments are expected to increase from 1.05 million dollars to between 1.2 million and 1.25 million dollars. That means applicants could need at least 100,000 dollars more for qualifying projects, or 150,000 dollars more for standard investments, before legal and administrative costs. The change directly affects Indian high-net-worth individuals, business owners and families using the programme as a route to permanent US residency. The programme still requires each investment to create at least ten full-time jobs for American workers. The revised figures remain estimates, and applicants should wait for the official federal announcement before making financial decisions.
